Last summer we spent a delicious day filming with our Borrower customer Dartington Dairy for the BBC1 documentary series ‘A Matter of Life and Debt’. This series focuses on responsible lenders across the country, telling the stories of people whose lives have been transformed by an ethical loan.
Jon and Lynne Perkin from Dartington Dairy used their FOLK2FOLK loan to transform their farm into a commercial business creating delicious jersey cow and goat’s milk products, including ice cream in a range of flavours which we thoroughly enjoyed sampling!
The ethical investments made through FOLK2FOLK meant Dartington Dairy were able to purchase essential equipment as well as invest in their brand to make them more marketable to stockists and end customers. The impact of these investments have resulted in Dartington Dairy now employing six local people and their products being sold across 40 local retailers in the south west with ambitions to scale this across the UK.
Here’s what Jon had to say about working with FOLK2FOLK: “It was so straightforward. I really couldn’t fault the process, the loan was approved in about three weeks and was so much simpler than working with a [high street] bank. They didn’t ask for years of cashflows. They could see the potential.”
