FOLK2FOLK are proud to be supporting the Lady Astor Statue Appeal to build a statue of the first lady of British Politics.
Lady Nancy Astor was the first female to be given a seat in the House of Commons in 1919 where she was elected as MP of Plymouth Sutton. Lady Astor used her position to speak up for women’s cause and equal rights and has helped to shape the world we live in Today.
Because of her impact on history and to celebrate the 100 years since becoming the first female MP to enter Parliament, a donation is taking place to raise money for the erection of Lady Astor’s Statue in Plymouth.
